Meet the Maker
Heeeeey! It's me, Meghan, & welcome to my corner of the internet! If you have been here for a minute - you know this business started as a naptime creative outlet while I was navigating the first go around of motherhood. Homestead Homemades is now SIX years old, and I cannot believe the journey.
My husband bought me a Cricut for a Christmas present in 2019 - I wanted it because (for better or for worse) I have the "oh I can make that" outlook on most things. From wall signs to baby onesies, I began creating items for myself that I would post on my personal Facebook page to ya know - show the world what I made!
One message lead to another - "Hey, can you make me this?" from others and one project led to another and I was not only "working" during nap time but late hours into the night and early mornings too. Fast forward to maternity leave with baby #2 - in the midst of postpartum, navigating toddler and newborn life - I wanted some sort of shirt that told my story, but I didn't just want it to say "MAMA" Everyone had a "Mama" shirt. SO - I put my boys' names on the sleeve, threw the crewneck on my living room floor, snapped a photo, uploaded it to Instagram and took my outside loving toddler and my newborn baby to the park.
If you have ever navigated the park with a newborn and a toddler, you are well aware it is most certainly not a "walk in the park" :) BUT - when we got back to the car - I checked my phone (no apple watch!!! sometimes I seriously consider ditching it) and was blown away by the number of comments/messages of other mamas who also needed the crew with their babies' names on the sleeve!!
